Vacuum Erection Device (VED) for penile remodelling in Peyronie’s
Goal
The aim is not to have sex with the device on, but to gently and repeatedly expand the erectile tissues to help maintain length and improve shape over time.
Important: Results vary. VED is most useful during the active/early phase (pain and changing curvature) and can still help in the stable phase to maintain length and function.
What a VED does (for Peyronie’s)
A VED creates a gentle vacuum around the penis, drawing blood into the erectile bodies and expanding the tissues. Used regularly, it may help:
Maintain or improve penile length
Reduce narrowing/“hourglass” deformity in some men
Support erectile quality
Complement other treatments
Who should NOT use a VED
Speak with your urologist before using VED if you have:
Bleeding disorders or are on strong blood thinners
Sickle cell disease, prior priapism, or high risk of prolonged erections
Significant penile skin conditions, open wounds, or infection
Severe pain with erections that makes use intolerable
Marked curvature where the cylinder causes significant discomfort or bending
Choosing the right device
For remodelling, choose a medical-grade VED with:
A clear cylinder with a comfortable base
A pressure release valve
Manual or battery pump (either is fine)
Ability to control vacuum gradually
You do NOT need constriction rings for remodelling sessions.
Step-by-step: how to use the VED for remodelling
1) Preparation (2 minutes)
Use in a warm, private setting.
Trim pubic hair if it prevents a seal.
Apply water-based lubricant around the base opening of the cylinder (and a small amount to the shaft).
2) Positioning
Place the cylinder firmly against the body at the base of the penis to create a seal.
Keep the penis centred in the tube.
3) Pumping technique (gentle is the goal)
Pump slowly until you reach a firm-but-not-painful stretch.
Stop immediately if you feel sharp pain.
If swelling of the foreskin/glans occurs, reduce pressure and ensure the penis is centred.
4) The “cycle” method
A typical session uses repeated short holds, not one long hold.
Cycle example (one session):
Pump to a comfortable stretch → hold 30–60 seconds
Release pressure (partially or fully) → rest 15–30 seconds
Repeat for 10–15 cycles
Total session time: 10–15 minutes
Frequency:
Aim for 1 session daily, or 5–7 days/week
If you’re sensitive, start every second day for 1 week, then increase.
5) After the session
Gently remove the cylinder.
Check the skin for bruising, blistering, or broken skin.
Mild temporary redness is common. Significant bruising means too much vacuum.
How hard should I pump?
Rule of thumb: you should feel stretching pressure, not pain.
Avoid:
Rapid pumping
“Maxing out” vacuum pressure
Holding a strong vacuum for long periods
Pain is a warning sign—reduce vacuum or stop.
Expected sensations and common minor side effects
Common and usually mild:
Temporary redness
Mild aching/stretch discomfort
Small superficial bruises if vacuum is too high
Temporary swelling of skin/foreskin
These usually improve by lower pressure and slower pumping.
Safety: when to stop and seek help
Stop using the device and contact your doctor urgently if you have:
Severe bruising or swelling
Blistering, skin breakdown, bleeding
Significant worsening pain
Numbness that does not settle
An erection that stays hard and painful for >2 hours after a session (rare with remodelling use)
Tips to improve comfort and results
Be consistent: small daily sessions beat occasional long sessions
Warm shower beforehand can help
Keep vacuum gentle and controlled
How long until I notice benefit?
Most men need 8–12 weeks of consistent use to judge benefit. Some continue for 3–6 months depending on goals (length preservation, deformity, erectile quality).
Quick start plan (simple)
Week 1: 10 minutes per session, every second day, gentle cycles
Weeks 2–12: 10–15 minutes daily (or 5–7 days/week), gentle cycles
